The winemakers of Tolosa are true believers in the special terroir that is Edna Valley, nestled amongst the volcanic hills of San Luis Obispo County and the frontier for the most cool-climate varietals in California. Their Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays reflect the cool Pacific wind that sweeps down the coast and funnels into the valley, leading to nuanced and distinct wines with incredible balance. Edna Valley Vineyard
Wines most known for: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc
One of the most popular in the area, our guests enjoy how close the vineyard is to our hotel. Tastings are given every day of the year except for August 24th and it is recommended to make reservations ahead of time. The wines you'll taste here are very fruit forward with hints of oak in them. All wine produced at the vineyard is made in French new oak barrels and the owners have utilized Burgundian wine-making methods. In 2013, the vineyard won a Double Gold award for their 2011 Riesling at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Throughout the year, the vineyard hosts numerous events. There is a tasting fee which is fully refundable if you purchase a bottle of wine on your visit. Claiborne & Churchill Winery
Wines most known for: Gewürztraminer and Riesling
Known for a variety of European wines, this winery offers tastings of wines only available when you visit. One of the unique features about the winery is its structure; the winery walls are built out of rice straw, allowing the wine cellar to maintain its temperature. Ancient Peaks Winery & Margarita Vineyard

A visit to Ancient Peaks will offer you the chance to taste a variety of wines as well as a glimpse into the wildlife on the Santa Margarita ranch. The name Ancient Peaks refers to the complex soils and terrain that resulted from tectonic shifts in the nearby mountains. Pomar Junction Vineyard & Winery

Enjoy a vintage farm feel when visiting Pomar Junction which has a caboose, boxcar and other antique farm equipment you can view after you taste their wines. Wild Horse Winery & Vineyards

This winery has the most unique story of how they first made their wine: in a plastic tub with a baseball bat, all for a Cal Poly project! The winery's logo is also symbolic of the mustangs that used to roam nearby. When you visit for a tasting (open daily, 359.5 days a year), be sure to stop by and say "hello" to their winery mascots, Dolly Llama and her son Salvador Dolly! Red Soles Winery
Wines most known for: Zinfandel
The name comes just from where you think it would - red feet! In the early wine-making days, grapes were smashed with one's feet. One feature that makes the Red Soles winery unique is the Templeton Gap region. This "gap" creates an outstanding growing area for the winery since the ocean breeze can bring in cooler air later at night after a warm, California day. Be sure to try the winery's 2014 Estate Syrah which won a Double Gold, Best of Class award at the San Francisco Chronicle.
